Your words, your story. Always.

Regardless of the editing package selected, you don’t have to worry about me re-writing your book according to my own preferences. Your writing—your words—remain yours. While I hope to improve your novel, novella, or short story by removing pesky typos and grammar gremlins. I will always respect your voice and creative intentions, letting nothing get between your story and your readers.

Also, as the author, you’re completely free to accept or reject my suggestions. Creative control is yours. Always.

COPYEDITING

Corrects grammar, punctuation, spelling errors, and commonly confused words (their, there, they’re), as well as checking for internal consistency of facts (no extra hands during sexy times or changing eye color) and consistency with capitalization, hyphenation, and numerals.

Includes a style sheet for the manuscript that lists important elements like: characters and descriptions, formatting notes for consistency, and a spelling list (if applicable; especially helpful for stories with fantasy or sci-fi elements)

Converting from UK/Canadian English to US English can be included upon request.

$0.0028 a word. There is a flat rate of $28 for stories that are less than 10,000 words.

PROOFREADING

A final check before publishing to find spelling and punctuation errors, missing words, and repeated words, as well as checking formatting consistency (making sure ‘smart’ quotes are used, checking that Chapter One is followed by Chapter Two instead of Chapter 2, etc.). Proofreading should be the very last level of editing done before publishing your novel, novella, or short story.

$0.0019 a word. There is a flat rate of $19 for stories that are less than 10,000 words.

DRAGON-TAMING

For those writers who use Dragon NaturallySpeaking or any other speech-to-text software.

In addition to checking and correcting any errors created from speech to text conversion, you also receive all the quality control checks included with copyediting.

As awesome as I am (he says with sincere modesty), it’s practically impossible for one person to catch every single mistake, although I try my best. With that in mind, you won’t hurt my feelings if you have another proofreader or copy editor look at your manuscript. In the end, it’s all about you having the best manuscript possible to offer to your readers.

Your privacy is guaranteed. I do not share pen names or email addresses, and I do not discuss my clients with anyone else; not even with other clients.
